About Alex
Alex didn't come to us with a story. No notes, no history, no comforting "he loves this" or "he's great with that." Just a name, a carrier, and a whole lot of fear.
And honestly? Right now, he's not coping.
The shelter is loud, unfamiliar, and overwhelming, and Alex is doing what a lot of scared cats do: shutting down. Keeping his distance. Not putting on a show for anyone walking past. If you're looking for a cat who will wow you in the first five seconds... Alex isn't that cat.
But here's the thing, those five seconds don't tell you who he is.
Because behind the fear, we see it. The small, quiet signs. The way he softens just a little when things are calm. The hesitant curiosity. The moments where he wants to trust, but just doesn't know how yet.
There is a sweet boy in there. A really sweet boy.
Alex doesn't need perfection, he needs patience. He needs someone who understands that the best cats aren't always the ones who shout the loudest, but the ones who take a little time to show you who they are. He needs a home where he can exhale, feel safe, and finally let that guard down.
This is where you come in.
Cats like Alex don't stand a chance if we only choose the confident, the flashy, the easy. The shy ones, the scared ones, they rely on people willing to take a chance. To see past the fear and give them the time they were never given before.
When you adopt a cat like Alex, you're not just getting a pet. You're saving a life that others might overlook. You're changing his entire world.
And one day, when he finally curls up beside you, relaxed and safe, you'll know exactly why it mattered.
Take a chance on Alex. He's waiting.
Alex is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Alex - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
