About Dexter
đ€ Meet Dexter â A Loyal Young Boy Ready for His Next Chapter đ€
Introducing Dexter, a loving eleven-month-old German Shepherd who, through no fault of his own, is searching for a new place to call home.
Dexter has been raised as an indoor, well-loved companion since just 8 weeks of age. He is house trained, clean in the home, and accustomed to being part of the family. He enjoys car rides and thrives on getting out and about for adventures with his people.
While Dexter has been walked on a harness, he would benefit from some continued lead training to help him develop a relaxed, loose-lead walk beside you. Dexter will require a committed family who will engage with him, providing the playtime and stimulation to keep him a calm and well balanced shepherd.
Dexter has had limited socialisation with other dogs in his early life. However, since being in care, he has been thoughtfully and gradually introduced to a calm, social female German Shepherd. With the right guidance and support, Dexter has responded beautifully and now genuinely enjoys his runs and playtime with his new friend.
Dexter is a beautiful young boy with so much love to give â he just needs the right person to guide him into his bright future. đŸ
Dexter has yet to be tested with cats or pocket pets. Due to his fun loving nature and size he is not suitable to go to a home with young children, but he is gentle with older children.
Dexter is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making him a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet him. Should he, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing him back to Sydney or helping us rehome him from your home.
If you have recently owned a German Shepherd or large breed dog, and understand German Shepherd and think you have the commitment to give him a new home, then please select the "Enquire about Dexterâ and we will send you an application form or go to our website and complete the application form.

We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
