Meet Slinky!
Slinky is a lovely young pup, approximately 8 months old, who has quickly shown herself to be a very sweet and affectionate little dog. Based on her appearance and size, we suspect she may be a Terrier × Dachshund mix, so she is expected to remain on the smaller side once fully grown.
Slinky has a gentle nature and enjoys being around people. She is very affectionate and happily seeks out attention and cuddles from those she trusts. Like many puppies her age, she can become a little jumpy when excited, but this is simply youthful enthusiasm and she responds well to calm interaction.
She has been around other dogs at the pound and has shown herself to be very dog friendly. She enjoys playing with other dogs and tends to be quite submissive when meeting new canine friends, making her a good candidate for a home with another friendly dog who enjoys playtime.
Slinky appears to be afraid of cats and will typically run away from them rather than chase them. She has also been around children and has interacted appropriately with them. As she is still a young puppy, her excitement can sometimes make her a little bouncy, so gentle supervision and guidance would be beneficial, particularly with younger children.
For a puppy of her age, Slinky has shown some very positive traits. She has not been destructive in her kennel environment and is not particularly vocal when left alone. As she is still young, she will need continued guidance with toilet training, and she may occasionally do excited wees when greeting people she is happy to see.
Slinky is also still learning how to walk calmly on a lead. At the moment she can become very excited during walks and may have bursts of playful energy, doing little “zoomies” while on lead. With regular walks, patience, and some basic training, she should continue to improve and gain confidence.
Overall, Slinky is a very sweet, affectionate and playful young dog who enjoys companionship and interaction. With the right home willing to provide continued training, routine, and plenty of affection, she has the potential to grow into a wonderful little companion.
