About Pepper
Pepper is a female Domestic Short Hair cat available for adoption in Parkhurst (Rockhampton region, Queensland).
Pepper is a social, affectionate cat who enjoys connection in her own thoughtful way. This cat brings a calm, grounded presence into the home, paired with a quiet confidence and a curious streak that keeps life interesting.
She’s the kind of companion who seeks you out, makes eye contact and gently lets you know she’s ready for attention — never demanding, always intentional.
Pepper would suit a calm, steady home where her environment feels predictable and she can settle into her own rhythm.
A little about Pepper:
🐾 Affectionate and quietly social
🐾 Enjoys chats, pats and gentle connection
🐾 Best suited as the only cat
🐾 Comfortable around respectful dogs
🐾 Thrives in calm, predictable environments
With familiar people, Pepper is warm and expressive. She will find you in the home, softly meow and approach for connection — often rubbing against your legs or flopping onto the floor for her favourite neck and back scratches.
She has a lovely way of communicating, often “chatting” back when spoken to and softening her eyes when she feels content.
With unfamiliar people, Pepper prefers to take her time. She may initially choose a quiet space, then gradually return once things feel calm, approaching for gentle interaction when she’s ready.
Pepper has lived with both cats and dogs and is confident in managing her space. She has lived with another cat, but their personalities weren’t the right match, so she is happiest as the only cat in the home.
She has previously lived comfortably alongside dogs and may suit a home with a respectful canine companion, particularly where she has access to elevated spaces.
When Pepper feels secure and her environment meets her needs, she is a clean and settled cat. In times of stress, particularly in environments where she feels unsettled, she has shown she may toilet outside the litter tray.
Her triggers are well understood, and in a calm home that supports her need for safety, choice, routine and personal space, this behaviour resolves. She also benefits from having multiple clean litter trays available.
If needed, guidance and support can be provided to help her guardian set her up for success and maintain these positive routines.
Her daily rhythm is calm and consistent.
Mornings begin with breakfast and a short explore, followed by long, restful periods of napping or watching the world from a window.
In the evenings, she enjoys time outdoors before settling in for a quiet night, often checking in for connection along the way.
Life with Pepper feels steady and quietly rewarding.
You might notice her gently approaching for a pat, chatting softly in response to your voice, or settling nearby with that relaxed, half-closed gaze that says she feels completely at ease.
Pepper will suit someone who values a cat with a clear sense of self — one who offers genuine connection, calm companionship and a beautifully expressive personality.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
