Coco, A Little Island of Sweetness

Named after the island, Coco may be small but she has a big personality and just the right amount of sass.

Coco is currently in foster care with a loving family, which means we know a lot about her personality already. She loves a good snuggle and will happily fall asleep next to her people, her brother or one of the many teddy toys around the house.

She is a clever little pup who is already learning her basics. Coco is starting to understand sit and is responding well to treats, praise and pats. She is doing really well with toilet training, with number twos consistently outside and only the occasional wee still happening as she learns.

Coco enjoys having the freedom to move between inside and outside and will happily come and go when the door is open. She does have a bit of a cheeky side and can often be found outside happily collecting sticks or exploring the garden.

Like most puppies, Coco is playful and full of energy. She enjoys a good play session, especially with her brother, although she can get a little carried away when tired and benefits from gentle breaks to help her settle. She also has those classic puppy traits, including playful nibbles and curiosity about everything, including your nose if you are giving her kisses.

Coco is currently showing some signs of sensitive skin, with scratching and nibbling likely linked to environmental factors like grass or insects. It is not causing her distress, but it is something we are keeping an eye on as she grows.

She has been exposed to a cat in care and is learning boundaries, however her playful nature means she can sometimes get a bit too enthusiastic. She may be best suited to a home with dog-savvy cats or where introductions can continue to be guided.

Coco has also been treated as a precaution for suspected Ehrlichia canis (E. canis) and is doing well.

Because Coco is raised in foster care, we understand her personality and needs well. If you would like to meet this sweet little girl, simply send through an adoption application and we can arrange a meet and greet.

Flying for a few hours is very important for animals in remote locations because it gives us the opportunity to be adopted. Talk to SAFE about flying me to Perth.

4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING:

1. Time Commitment: Owning a dog is a big responsibility and requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Be sure to consider how much time you can realistically dedicate to caring for a dog and make sure you are prepared to make that commitment.

2. Cost: Owning a dog can be expensive. Make sure to consider the cost of food, medical care, toys, and other supplies. You may also want to think about enrolling your dog in obedience classes or hiring a professional dog walker.

3. Space: Depending on the breed, some dogs require a lot of space. Make sure you have enough room in your home and yard to accommodate a dog before making the decision to adopt.

4. Lifestyle: Think about your current lifestyle and how a dog may fit into it. Consider if you have any restrictions such as travel, work hours, or allergies. Also, think about how owning a dog may affect your social life.

NOTES:
Adoption fee includes vet check, first vaccination*, flea and worm treatment, microchipping and sterilisation at a SAFE approved vet at 6 months of age.

*Puppies and dogs may require further vaccination(s) to complete the full vaccination course. This will be at the cost of the new owner and is not included in the adoption fee.
