Hello. I’m Kitty Purry.

For a long time, I was the quiet one. I stayed close to my siblings and let them take the spotlight while I sat back and watched everything around me. But once they were adopted, something changed in me. I grew into myself.

Now I follow my foster mum around the house like a little shadow. If she gets up, I need to know where she is going and what she is doing. I am curious about everything and take it upon myself to investigate. This has included sticking my nose too close to hot coffee once, which I would not recommend.

I have decided the back of the lounge belongs to me now. It is my favourite spot because I can sit close to my foster mum and keep an eye on the whole house at the same time. I like being near people. I am affectionate in a quieter way. I enjoy brief cuddles, chin scratches, and curling up beside you, but I would much rather sit next to you than on your lap.

I have also discovered that I quite enjoy asking for attention. I do this with my little “meh” sound, especially if I feel like I have been ignored for too long. Mealtime is another important conversation topic for me, particularly if dinner is not being served quickly enough.

I live with Bonnie, a 16-year-old poodle cross, and she is one of my favourite companions. We used to coexist quietly, but now we race up and down the hallway together, play chase, and snooze side by side on the lounge or bed. I think Bonnie secretly enjoys my company even if she pretends otherwise.

I have a few hobbies too. One of them is collecting socks. Specifically, odd socks. I keep them hidden under the sunroom table like tiny treasures. I also enjoy cardboard boxes filled with scrunched-up newspaper, chewing cardboard, jumping between boxes, and planning sneak attacks on Bonnie when she walks past, minding her own business.
Visitors do not bother me. Adults, children, and dogs: I am happy to wander over to see what is happening confidently. I like being included.

One thing people notice about me is that they think I do not purr. But I do. It is just very quiet. When you hold me close, you can feel it vibrating through my whole body.

I am not the kind of kitten who demands to be the centre of attention every second of the day. I just quietly became part of your life. Sitting beside you. Following after you. Sleeping nearby and keeping you company in all the small everyday moments that end up meaning the most.
