About Takota
🐾 Meet Takota 🐾
Dachshund | Toy Hoarder | Shower Inspector | Professional Bed Warmer
Takota entered the world in true dramatic style — born via Caesarian alongside his seven siblings. Since then, he has been working very hard at his full-time job of being an extremely lovable dachshund.
Now here’s the confusing part…
Takota is the last of the litter still waiting for his forever home. His brothers and sisters have all packed their bags and moved out, and yet Takota is still here wondering where his people are. Considering his amazing temperament, we’re honestly not quite sure how this has happened!
Takota has been raised in a loving foster home and is a confident, affectionate little guy who loves being part of whatever is happening. If you move rooms — Takota will move rooms. If you sit down — Takota will appear beside you. If snacks appear — Takota will definitely be involved.
He currently lives with six foster cats, which he considers perfectly normal housemates. He is great with dogs, cats and children and assumes everyone he meets is a potential friend.
Takota also likes to holiday at Aunty Cherie’s house, where he settles in immediately like he’s been living there his whole life.
Now let’s talk about his hobbies…
🚿 Shower enthusiast
Takota LOVES showers. While most dogs run away from water, Takota believes shower time is clearly a team sport.
🍗 Food connoisseur
Takota enjoys a wide variety of foods and approaches every meal like a fine dining experience.
🧸 Toy shop owner
Takota currently owns what could only be described as a small toy store worth of soft toys.
🦴 Dental care professional
He happily enjoys bully sticks, beef ears and venison ears to keep those teeth sparkling.
🚗 Travel buddy
Takota loves car rides and settles beautifully.
🚶 Lead trained
He walks nicely on a lead and enjoys exploring.
💤 Crate trained
He sleeps quietly in a crate on car rides and you won’t hear a peep from him.
🛏 Elite bed snuggler
If invited into bed, Takota will snuggle in and literally not move all night. It's going to be cooler soon so this is a job right up his alley!
💛 Very polite affection
Takota isn’t a big licker. Instead he gently places his nose on your cheek as his version of a kiss.
🩺 Vet-friendly unicorn dachshund
Unlike many of his breed, Takota happily allows nail trims, teeth checks, handling and belly rubs.
🎓 Smart boy
He knows how to sit, and like many clever dogs he also knows when he’s in trouble.
🔔 Not a big barker
He may bark briefly in new environments, but settles quickly once comfortable.
🎾 A little quirky and loves to play
Takota has a fun personality and enjoys playtime just as much as cuddle time.
With consistent training, Takota will grow into a dachshund any family would be proud of.
⚠️ One important requirement for Takota’s new home:
Takota must have an adult dog and/or a cat already living in the home. He thrives with animal companions and enjoys having friends around, so this is not negotiable.

Adoption details
**We will only contact suitable enquirers as we are all volunteers and have limited resources to contact everyone**
**We do adopt to Northern QLD & NSW, however we do not fly pets.
We require adopters to meet first therefore we do have a limitation on transport options.**
Welcome to Small Paws Animal Rescue QLD.
We aim to place each of our animals with the best family possible.
Our adoption process may seem a little complex, we ask a lot of questions. But there are reasons for this.
1. Our animals in care are like our children.
2. We want to match the best humans with the animals to ensure you are happy and our animals are happy.
3. We don't want animals to come back to us. We want their family to be forever.
So our adoption process begins with an application being completed.
Once we receive the application we will assess it on face value of the answers you have provided.
Once we can determine if you sound like a good fit, we will call you to chat a bit further.
This is when we will schedule a meet and greet with your potential new family member/s.
We may need you to have more than one meet, especially if you have other pet/s that need to be introduced or children and other human family members.
We will confer with our foster carer, and advise you as soon as possible if you were successful in your meet and greet.
Once we have confirmed your success, we will arrange for the paperwork to be completed including the adoption payment.
We allow our foster carers time to say goodbye to their foster babies, it can be hard for some to give them to their new homes and we recognise all the hard work and dedication they have put in to ensure that your new family member has been safe and is ready to go to their forever home.
We will keep in contact with you for 2 weeks during a "trial" adoption period. There are terms and conditions to be met and we will advise you of these.
Once the trial period has ended we will send you the paperwork for your new family member.
At any time after this - if you need assistance you can always contact us.
