About Winnie
Meet Winnie… or Vinnie… or one of his many other nicknames! 🐾
We are excited to introduce Winnie (also known as Vinnie). A little confusing, we know! He arrived in care as Winnie, but his microchip says Vinnie. His foster mum has since added a few more names to the list — Winkle, Perry Winkle, Perry, Sir, Chicken Little, Nugget, and Choo Chee. Safe to say, this little guy answers to love more than anything!
Winnie is an 11-years-young Poodle x Dachshund, and when we say young at heart, we truly mean it. This boy has a real zest for life — he’s excitable, curious, and still enjoys getting out and about. Foster mum recently treated him to his very first puppacino, and he thought that was a pretty great experience.
Like many dogs who have gone through big changes, Winnie can feel a little anxious when left alone, so he would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. A friendly canine sibling would likely help him settle. He has also just started a natural anti-anxiety medication to help him adjust to this new chapter in his life.
Winnie truly doesn’t ask for much — just a cozy spot on your couch and a place in your heart. In return, he’ll offer companionship, entertainment, and plenty of character.
If you’re looking for a loving little companion with personality, charm, and plenty of nicknames, Winnie might just be your perfect match.
Medical notes
When Winnie came into care, he did have a delicate issue involving a polyp that required removal. The good news is that it has been confirmed benign. It may grow back at some stage and require another procedure in the future, but the rescue will cover the cost of that surgery as part of his adoption. We will happily discuss this with his future family, so they are fully supported. Otherwise the vet confirmed that he is healthy and weighs in at 12kg, desexed and up to date on his flea, tick and worming preventative.
