About Joan
Hello there! I’m Joan, and I’m officially accepting applications for my forever family.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR Joan
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/z3w2PPuKdFkL7JVz8
My Ideal Home:
• I’ll need daily exercise — walks, park or beach trips, and playtime in the backyard will keep me happy and healthy.
• I want to be part of the family indoors — not left outside without interaction.
• As a social and playful pup, I may really enjoy attending doggy daycare.
• Secure fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent) is essential to keep me safe.
• I’d love plenty of toys and mental enrichment to keep my busy mind occupied.
• Most importantly, I’m looking for lots of love and attention from my family.
• I have previously lived with young children.
• When I get excited, I can be a little bouncy and mouthy, so any children in the home would need to feel comfortable and confident around an energetic, enthusiastic dog joining the family.
• I absolutely LOVE water and would be thrilled to have my own clam pool to splash and relax in.
• I enjoy friendly male and female dogs however I can be very exuberant when meeting on the lead which some dogs may not appreciate. Once off the lead I am a lot more calm & respectful.
• With a slow and thoughtful introduction, I may be ok to live with a cat.
My Paw-some Perks:
• I’m a very playful, happy pup with the cutest little wiggle-butt when I’m excited.
• I am very responsive to my name
• I LOVE toys and will bring a rope toy up to you and do a little whimper to initiate a game of tug-o-war, I also love to chase the ball and will run back to you but not necessarily drop/give it to you - that's still a work in progress
• I’m very social and happy to hang out with other friendly dogs — total social butterfly!
• I’m exuberant and full of beans, always ready for fun and adventure.
• Being very scent-driven (it’s a breed thing!), I’d excel at scent games and enrichment activities.
• I adore water and will happily splash in my bowl, chase the hose, or take a swim in a basin or river.
• I do already have some previous training under my belt and know how to sit, shake hands, lay down/drop, wait to eat & I will sit at doors/gates etc to have my lead put on. I’m clever, enthusiastic, and would thrive with a family who’ll continue my training and maybe even teach me some cool new tricks.
Training & Support Needs:
• I can be a little erratic & pull quite strongly on the lead when excited and wanting to get somewhere of interest. I do settle down fairly quickly but further on leash training and walking in a harness/halti is recommended.
• I am very social with other dogs however I do sometimes bark at them whilst passing them when out for a walk. My new family/owner must be prepared to put in further training in this area so that it does not develop into further dog reactive behavior
Please Note: You’ll only be able to meet Joan if your application is approved. Successful applicants will be invited to the shelter for a meet-and-greet, and any dogs currently in the home must attend as well
