About Oxy
💙 Meet Oxy – A Big Soft Heart Wrapped in a Gentle Soul 💙
Oxy is the kind of dog who quietly works his way into your life — and before you know it, you can’t imagine it without him.
At around 30kg, Oxy is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He’s social, easygoing, and gets along beautifully with other dogs, including Milo, the small fluffy white resident dog in his foster home, where he has settled in seamlessly. And he loves kids!
💛 What makes Oxy special
Oxy is a wonderfully balanced dog — happy to join you on an adventure, but just as content to relax by your side.
✔ Loves his walks and settles nicely on lead
✔ Travels beautifully in the car
✔ House-trained and sleeps soundly in his crate
✔ No digging or escape behaviours
✔ Enjoys water — dams, creeks, or even a hose will do!
He already knows sit and down, is learning stay, and is eager to keep building his skills. He’s very people-focused and naturally stays close, making him a great candidate for off-lead adventures once his training progresses.
🐾 A gentle, affectionate nature
Oxy is, quite simply, a sweetheart.
He is loving, affectionate, and happiest when he’s close to his people — whether that’s enjoying a cuddle, quietly following you around, or settling nearby for a nap.
While he can be a little playful and cheeky at times, it’s all part of his charm. He’ll happily bounce around the yard for a few minutes with a toy, then wander back inside ready to relax again.
Despite his size, he is not a high-energy dog — more of a “best of both worlds” companion who enjoys activity but doesn’t demand it.
🐶 Social and well-mannered
Oxy plays beautifully with other dogs and reads them well. He enjoys a good game, but also respects boundaries when his canine friends have had enough — only to gently try again later when the mood improves.
He has a soft, friendly nature and is still learning his manners around children, so a home with primary school-aged kids and up would suit him best.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
