**The reality for cats in Townsville**

Every year, thousands of cats and kittens in North Queensland are euthanised — not because they aren't worthy of love, but because the system is overwhelmed. Low desexing rates in the community mean unplanned litters arrive faster than shelters and welfare groups can cope with. Shelters are overcrowded, funding is stretched, and for many cats, time simply runs out.

The numbers are sobering: 70% of cats that enter shelters are never reclaimed — and of those, 46% are euthanised. These aren't just statistics. They are cats and kittens exactly like these ones, who simply ran out of time and space.

🌸 Tilly – The Devoted Mama

Tilly is a gentle, loving mum who has done a wonderful job raising her seven babies, even adopting Tails and Tailless, our two kittens that were hit by a car. She has a calm and affectionate nature and enjoys human company. I know I shouldn’t have favourites but if I did, Tilly would be it. Tilly is the friendliest, most loving, easy going cat you could ever ask for. Till will happily sit nearby or in your lap keeping you company with soft purrs and loving eyes.

After raising her little Easter basket of kittens, it’s finally time for Tilly to be someone’s baby too.
