About Chucky
At just 12 months old, Chucky the Mastiff mix is already a certified Gentle Giant-with a tiny little secret he'd prefer you didn't tell the other dogs... he's actually a big sook.
When meeting new people, Chucky's first instinct is to retreat behind the nearest object. If he's unsure, he may hide and observe from a safe distance like a very large, slightly nervous undercover agent. But once he realizes you come bearing kindness (and ideally snacks), his transformation is immediate: tail wagging, enthusiastic affection, and a whole lot of love.
When Chucky gets playful, prepare yourself. His zoomies are a sight to behold - imagine a small pony discovering a pogo stick for the first time. It's joy, enthusiasm, and limbs going in all directions.
Chucky is searching for a calm, patient, and experienced home that can help him continue learning that the world is not, in fact, plotting against him. With a bit of reassurance and guidance, this sensitive boy will blossom into the confident companion we know he can be.
He has previously lived with another dog and could happily do so again - a calm canine friend would suit him best. Think chill life coach, not chaotic party animal.
Chucky is also working through his feelings about being left alone. While he isn't destructive, he does enjoy a good dramatic sulk and a bit of soulful whining when he finds himself solo in the exercise yard. The good news? A tasty Kong may help convince him that alone time is actually snack time.
Because Chucky prefers the quieter side of life, he's best suited to a calm household without young children. Teenagers, however, are perfectly acceptable members of his fan club.
If you're looking for a sweet, sensitive, slightly dramatic gentle giant who will reward your patience with loyalty, affection, and occasional pogo-pony zoomies, Chucky might just be your guy.
