Hi, I’m Crackers– your best buddy in the making!
I may be a little guy, but I’m packed full of energy, charm, and curiosity. I was surrendered into the care of Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld and since then my carers have discovered that I’m an absolute delight to live with. I’m the kind of dog who would thrive in an active home where there’s plenty going on — adventures, playtime, training, and lots of involvement with my humans. I’d make a fantastic companion for an active family who wants a fun, clever little dog to be part of their daily life.
My foster carer says I’m actually a pretty easy little dog to live with. I’m pretty much crate trained now-I might give a little whine when it’s bedtime before settling, or if I need to go to the toilet, but otherwise I sleep quietly through the night. I’m also essentially toilet trained, I just need to be taken out fairly frequently because I’m a small dog with a small bladder. When I first came into care I was very fearful of other dogs and humans, but my carer has done a lot of hard work with my confidence building and training, and I have improved remarkably.
When my humans leave the house I can settle in a pen by myself. I may give a disapproving howl or two to let you know my thoughts about it, but I settle quite well. I’m also happy to eat and rest in my crate, although I’m still learning that longer periods in there are okay too.
I’m a confident little puppy now and generally take new environments in my stride. So far I’ve been very comfortable exploring the house and yard, and loud noises or sudden movements don’t faze me. My foster carer says I have excellent environmental stability for a young dog.
I currently live with other dogs. I can happily live with or without another dog, but if there is an existing dog in the home, introductions will need patience and sensible management at first. It took me just over a week to fully settle in with my foster siblings, so being prepared for that adjustment period is important. Ongoing and appropriately managed socialisation with dogs and humans of all ages and sizes will do wonders for my long term confidence.
I’m a bit of a character, very clever, a little sneaky, and known to occasionally steal a sock or two if given the opportunity! My foster carer says that when I am about to enter peak terrier energy, I flip my ears back so they're out of the way...sports terrier mode engaged.
My perfect home will be one where my new family is excited about continuing my training and giving me plenty of enrichment. I’m incredibly smart and will thrive with someone who enjoys working with their dog and including them in daily life.
I would suit a wide range of homes from a young family, to an active single person, to someone looking for a fun companion dog. I’d also likely excel in a sport or training home, and I could even be a great first dog for someone who is committed to training and socialisation and has looked into the best ways to engage in these things.
If you’re looking for a clever, confident little dog who will keep you laughing and fill your home with personality, I might just be your perfect match.
My perfect home looks like…
🐾 An active family or person who enjoys having a fun little dog involved in daily life, walks, outings, playtime and adventures
🐾 A home that understands I’m a clever terrier-type boy who thrives on training, enrichment and learning new things
🐾 Someone committed to continuing my socialisation and helping me grow into the brilliant adult dog I’m going to be
🐾 A family who won’t mind the occasional cheeky moment… like the odd sock going missing
🐾 A secure yard for playtime and zoomies, plus a home where I can sleep inside and be part of the family
🐾 Either as an only dog or with another dog -but if there is a resident dog, introductions should be slow and sensible while we get to know each other
If you’re looking for a sweet, clever little boy with a big personality and an even bigger heart, I’d love to meet you.
Love,
Crackers🐾
