Zara, the greyhound

Zara is a beautiful girl with a calm and loving nature who has settled wonderfully into foster care. She enjoys being close to her people and has a sweet, inquisitive personality that makes her a joy to have around.

Zara would be happy living in either a house or an apartment, as long as she gets her daily walks. Two walks a day suit her well, although if she had access to a garden for the occasional zoomies, she may only need one.

She is currently living as a solo dog and does well in that setup. While she hasn’t been extensively tested living with other dogs in the home, she has generally handled encounters calmly. She can feel a little unsure around very small or very vocal dogs, but she has also shown she can confidently stand her ground if needed.

Zara has been fantastic with alone time and has spent full days at home without any destructive behaviour. She is always happy to see her people return but remains calm rather than frantic.

Her lead manners are impeccable. Zara walks beautifully without pulling and enjoys calmly exploring the world on her walks. She is not bothered by traffic or loud noises and has remained relaxed even with construction work nearby and during thunderstorms.

She has not been tested with young children yet, but she has shown a gentle and friendly nature with everyone she has met so far. Older children would likely be a good match for her.

Zara has shown no signs of sleep startle or resource guarding. Occasionally she may “borrow” an item she finds interesting and hold onto it with a slightly sulky expression, which is more amusing than troublesome.

One thing Zara is still getting used to is slippery floors, so some mats around the house will help her feel more confident.

What her foster family loves most about Zara is her affectionate and curious nature. She loves to thoroughly inspect her humans with enthusiastic sniffs and the occasional wet kiss, and she melts into ear rubs while gazing lovingly into your eyes. She also enjoys her toys and is starting to show a playful side with her humans.

Zara is a calm, loyal, and very sweet companion who will bring plenty of quiet joy to the lucky family who adopts her.
