About Pandi
Pandi, a delightful and affectionate canine companion, is the kind of dog who thrives on human interaction and companionship. With a heart full of love and a personality that is both charming and endearing, Pandi is eager to form a deep bond with you and become an integral member of your family. This lovable pup is not just a pet; Pandi is a devoted friend who will always be by your side, ready to share lots of adventures and provide cuddles when needed pandis microchip states he is a “Chines crested breed ..but we feel he is a a Papilion x and our sweet little guy weighs in at just 6 kilos.
Pandi loves people! While he is happy and independent outside during the day while his people aren't home, if his people are home, he wants to be with them every second that he can, snuggling on the couch, licking their face, playing outside or going for a walk together. Pandi also loves a pamper! His signal for a belly rub is to lay on his back and curl up his legs giving you maximum access to his belly. He loves pats and having his fur brushed. Pandi is currently living with two school aged children and he adores their company
There are no strangers to Pandi, only people that haven't patted him yet. Pandi is eager to meet new people and thinks everyone he meets is made for patting him. He does jump and lean on legs as part of his greeting, but as he is such a little guy this doesn't hurt.
Pandi understands no, stay and sit and will follow these directions when they are given to him. He likes to be the boss when he's in his harness and takes the lead when out walking, but again, since he is such a little guy, it is easy to get him to go where he needs to go. He is playful but quiet by nature, but will bark when something excites him, like a possum running on the fence or the neighbours taking the bin out. He doesn't bark for long and will quieten down as soon as he is inside. Outside, he loves having space to run when the zoomies kick in.
Like many little dogs Pandi is not a fan of other dogs, he doesn’t like them approaching him so he will need to be an only dog. He is also not a fan of cats .
Dogs scare him so he will try and bark to get them to move out of his space. He was tested with a staffy and was fine walking her on lead but if she approached him he did do a little growl. He was happy to do a bum sniff so we feel with very slow introductions he could be ok to be around calm dogs one on one over time.
Pandi will go into alert mode when he comes across another dog but he can be distracted and encouraged to change direction easily. Being a little guy he is easy to manage and we suggest just giving him space around other dogs and not put him in situations which make him uncomfortable.
Pandi doesn't love bath time but he is patient and tolerates it. A treat or two will keep him where he needs to be and his fur comes up beautiful and soft after a lovely wash. He also enjoys the brushing and attention that comes straight after!
Continuing with the pampering theme, he likes his sleeping area to be soft and snuggly, he also likes a treat when he goes to bed. He switches between his dog bed and blanket to the lounge and blanket depending on how he feels. He might get up and wander at night but is never destructive and he will be found every morning exactly where you left him, big smile on his face, waiting for a good morning greeting and belly rub.
Pandi loves exploring and getting out, a short walk each day keeps him happy and makes him feel like part of the family. He is also happy to have a short car ride, sitting with someone in the back, because it means he is with his people.
He is well behaved inside, but does enjoy sitting in the lounge with his people. He does have the occasional toilet (No 1) accident inside but this has settled a lot since he has been desexed. He is interested in what his people are eating but is never annoying about it.
Pandi is currently eating Dry high quality kibble and loves Peanut Butter treats.
Pandi's ideal home is one where he is allowed to be a part of as much as possible and be inside when they are home
He is independent and able to be outside while his family work
He would love a yard where he can do zoomies and play with his toys but doesn’t have to be a big yard
A home that understands his dislike of other dogs and works on his exposure and engages a trainer if needed or just walks him in areas that are not overly busy with dog traffic.
He is loving and affectionate and you will see your love for him reflected in his happy little face.
Pandi would be fine around school aged children that are calm and understanding of dogs boundaries
