Shelby

Shelby is a sweet, gentle girl with a big heart who is looking for a calm and loving home to call her own. This beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback x Irish Wolfhound mix enjoys the company of people she trusts and will happily soak up attention once she feels comfortable.

Shelby can be a little unsure when meeting new people, particularly men, so she would thrive in a quiet household where she can settle in at her own pace. With patience and kindness, Shelby quickly shows her affectionate side

Shelby would benefit from crate training, as having a safe, cosy space of her own can help her relax when she feels worried or overwhelmed. She would also love to be allowed indoors so she can be part of the family and enjoy time with her people.

While she isn't overly playful at this stage, Shelby does enjoy the occasional squeaky toy and will sometimes engage with enrichment activities. She's a clever girl who already knows sit, down, and shake with both paws, and she would love a family who will continue building on her training and confidence.

Shelby can be sensitive to loud noises and may occasionally flinch or seek reassurance from a trusted handler. Because of this, a calm home environment and someone who can be around for the first few days will help her settle in and feel secure.

Shelby gets along with other dogs but can be a little enthusiastic during first meetings, so a meet-and-greet with any resident dog is essential. She would do best with a social dog who enjoys play.

Due to her size and sensitivity, Shelby would be best suited to a home with older children or children experienced with large breed dogs.
