About Boy
Introducing Boy!
Boy is a Staffy x born 3rd January 2020.
Boy was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray with his sister Sophie. Both Sophie and Boy were in awful condition when they came to us, both being very underweight, covered in fleas and clearly used for breeding. These two have spent their entire six years simply surviving.
And yet… they remained gentle.
Today, Boy (16.6kg on arrival now 18kg) is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and slowly gaining weight. His body is healing.. and so is his heart. Since being with us Boy has found his love for squeaky toys.. well.. all toys, but squeakies are his favourite. He's obsessed with food and knows how to sit & stay before eating. Boy is incredibly affectionate and will 100% be a lap dog if given the opportunity. He gets "froggy legs" when you scratch his back/above his tail and is just the sweetest boy you've ever met.
Our original plan was to rehome Boy with his beautiful sister Sophie, as they've spent their entire lives together & were still incredibly bonded, however we had to keep them separated for almost 2 weeks while Sophie healed from emergency surgery and when we put them back together again (although they were overjoyed to see eachother) we found that they were more excited to have one on one love with their human companions.
Boy tested really well with other dogs. He was excited and happy to meet both male & female dogs. We believe Boy would be suitable to live with another dog, or be a spoilt "only child". If you have a friendly dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Boy was unfazed by cats & pocket pets. We believe Boy could be sutiable to live with small animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Boy has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility.
Boy originally did show signs of separation anxiety when he was first separated from his sister Sophie, however this has now settled & he's quite happy being left on his own.
It’s heartbreaking, in a way, to watch them experience soft beds, full bowls, and kind hands as though it’s all brand new. They don’t ask for much — just closeness, comfort, and reassurance.
They have never truly had a family of their own.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
