About Romeo
Romeo is a male Domestic Short Hair cat available for adoption in Donvale (Melbourne, VIC).
Romeo’s story is one of quiet resilience and trust. Once a street cat, he has slowly learned what it means to feel safe, cared for and loved — and in return, he offers a deeply genuine kind of affection that feels earned and meaningful.
He’s a calm, low-maintenance companion who enjoys a peaceful environment and the quiet comfort of being close to his person.
Romeo would suit a calm, indoor-only home without other pets, where he can feel safe and continue building on the trust he has worked so hard to develop.
A little about Romeo:
🐾 Gentle, affectionate and low-maintenance
🐾 Forms strong bonds once trust is built
🐾 Prefers calm homes with adults
🐾 Best suited as the only pet
🐾 Indoor-only lifestyle
Romeo takes his time getting to know people, and that’s part of what makes his connection so special.
With unfamiliar people, he may choose to watch from a distance at first — observing quietly until he feels comfortable. Food and patience go a long way, and once he begins to trust, his soft and affectionate nature starts to shine through.
With the people he knows, Romeo is a true cuddle bug. He loves headbutts, gentle pats and will happily rub against your legs or settle into your lap when he feels safe.
He has a wonderfully calm presence and carries himself like a quiet little gentleman.
Romeo has spent much of his time resting peacefully in familiar outdoor spaces, but when brought inside, he showed just how well he can adapt to home life.
He used his litter tray reliably, settled in calmly and never demanded to go back outside — instead choosing to rest quietly and enjoy the comfort of being cared for.
Romeo is FIV+, which simply means he will need to be an indoor-only cat and live with another FIV+ cat or one that has completed its FIV vaccination series. With proper care, FIV+ cats can live long, happy lives, and Romeo is already thriving with the love he’s received.
Life with Romeo often feels quiet and meaningful.
Mornings may begin with a soft greeting before he settles into a sunny nap spot.
Afternoons are peaceful, with long naps and the occasional check-in for pats.
Evenings often bring his affectionate side forward — gentle head bumps, quiet companionship and the comfort of a cat who has chosen to trust.
For someone who understands that trust takes time and finds joy in building a deep bond, Romeo offers something truly special — a loyal, loving companion whose affection is genuine and lasting.

Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s guardian—the person who knows them best!
From here, the guardian will be in touch to learn more about you and chat with you about their pet. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
If your home and lifestyle match the pet's needs, the next step will be arranging a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone is happy to proceed with a formal adoption.
Following the adoption, change of ownership paperwork will be completed, and proof of vaccination, microchipping, and desexing (if applicable, as indicated on the listing) will be provided.
All pets adopted through Home2Home will require an adoption contract to be signed and an adoption fee to be paid. The pet’s guardian will complete the adoption contract with you and provide a link to PetRescue’s secure payment portal for completing the adoption fee payment.
Home2Home currently operates a ‘pay what you choose’ system for cat adoption fees. This means that adopters will be able to choose an adoption fee amount that is suitable for them. All adoption fees are used to support PetRescue's life-saving programs, including Home2Home.
