About Sushi
Meet Sushi 🐾🍣
A beautiful chocolate colored 5 year and 2 month old Toy Poodle
Sushi currently weighs 7.1kgs
Sweet, gentle and quietly blossoming — Sushi is a beautiful retired breeding girl who is now discovering what it truly means to just be a family member.
Since coming into care, we’ve made sure Sushi has had all of her vet work completed, including a dental scale and polish and an extraction, so she is feeling fresh, healthy and ready for her next chapter. And what a chapter it will be 💕
🐶 Training & House Habits
Sushi is toilet trained and happily goes outside through an open door. She hasn’t quite mastered a doggy door yet, but she’s a clever little lady and would absolutely pick it up — especially if she had another confident dog to follow and learn from.
She is not crate trained, and like many ex-breeding girls, small enclosed spaces can feel overwhelming for her. She thrives in open, calm environments where she can choose her safe spot.
🐶 Energy & Noise
Sushi is more of a gentle soul than a high-energy whirlwind. She enjoys a little happy dance at breakfast time and when you arrive home — the sweetest little wiggle celebration — and then she’s content to relax.
She is a very quiet girl. You’ll barely hear a peep out of her. She much prefers quietly observing the world and sticking close to her people.
🐶 Socialisation & Compatibility
Sushi is lovely with other dogs and truly benefits from their presence. She enjoys cuddling up beside another dog and will sometimes show a playful, bouncy side with small dogs her own size. She is comfortable around dogs of all sizes, but especially enjoys those closer to her own.
She needs another confident dog in her forever home — a calm, kind companion who can lead by example and help her continue building confidence.
She is fine with children but would prefer older, respectful kids who understand that she sometimes needs her space and gentle handling.
She has not been cat tested.
🐶 Daily Habits & Preferences
Her absolute favourite place?
Wherever you are.
The couch is her safe haven — especially if she’s feeling unsure or if there’s a storm brewing. She’s happiest curled beside you while you watch TV or quietly following you from room to room.
She’s not keen on walks just yet. New environments and unfamiliar people can feel overwhelming for her. However, she does seem to enjoy car rides and peeking curiously out the window — taking in the world at a safe distance.
🐶 Personality & Interests
Sushi is a sweet, shy little girl with the most endearing, gentle nature. Beneath that timid exterior is a curious heart that truly wants to connect — she just needs slow, patient introductions to feel safe.
She has the cutest breakfast-time dance and occasionally shows a cheeky sparkle that hints at the playful girl she’s still becoming.
And recently, something truly beautiful has happened — Sushi has started playing with soft toys. Watching her gently pick them up, toss them around and quietly entertain herself is incredibly special. It’s the kind of milestone that melts your heart, because you know she’s discovering joy and confidence in her own time.
Her favourite pastime?
Napping near her humans. Whether you’re on the couch, working in another room, or pottering around the house — she just wants to be nearby.
She is highly motivated by tasty treats (the way to her heart!) and responds beautifully to kind praise and reassurance.
🐶 Grooming
As a Toy Poodle, Sushi will require regular grooming to maintain her coat. She is a good girl for the groomer but needs someone gentle, patient and understanding — positive experiences are very important for her confidence.
💛 The Home Sushi Dreams Of
Sushi would love a quiet, calm home with:
• Another friendly, confident dog
• Patient humans who understand she needs slow introductions
• A predictable routine
• Lots of couch cuddles
She may be timid at first, but her gentle curiosity means she wants to be your friend — and once she feels safe, her loyalty and sweetness shine through.
Sushi has spent her early life giving to others.
Now it’s her turn to be cherished.
If you’re looking for a soft little shadow with the sweetest soul, Sushi may just be your girl. 🍣💕

Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email.
