About Mollie
If ever there was a dog who deserved to smile, it’s Mollie.
Loving, friendly, sweet, wonderful with other dogs, Mollie is the kind of dog that people dream about but the humans who had her for the first year of her life should never have treated her the way they did.
Mollie lived her life chained to an old car. She ate there, she slept there, she got pregnant and she gave birth there. It breaks my heart just thinking about it.
Despite her pitiful existence, Molly did her best to look after her newborn babies for the first few weeks of their lives, not daring to dream of a brighter future for any of them.
Then, suddenly and unexpectedly, help came.
Council rangers heard about Mollie and her babies and asked if we could help them. Of course, we said yes. They were seized and we immediately embarked on a 10 hour round trip collect this family, believing that the worst was behind them.
Unfortunately, Mollie’s struggles were not over. At her initial health check, she sadly tested positive for heartworm. As treatment cannot begin while a mother is still feeding her babies, there were some serious discussions to be had. Balancing the needs of Mollie alongside the needs of her precious babies, we decided to delay treatment for a couple of weeks so that the pups would be old enough to be weaned. This decision was not taken lightly but our vets believed that, due to Mollie only being around a year old herself, her infection would likely not be very advanced.
When Molly came to us, she weighed 13 kg. Today, she weighs just over 18. She is happy and healthy and active and ready to discover what the world has to offer.
Molly loves toys. She plays fetch like an Olympic athlete, and she loves doing zoomies with a huge smile on her face. If she can convince another dog to join in her game, then that makes things even better!
Mollie is a sweetheart who was born into a life that none of us would choose. It is now our job to find her the life she truly deserves.
Mollie has had all of her vet work done and even had a dental scale and polish. She does need another heartworm injection in a few months, to clear up any residual infection but we are happy to pay for that. We have attempted to test her with cats but aside from kissing one that came near her, she wasn’t really interested. If there are cats in her new home, like all new dogs, she would need supervision.
Mollie deserves a life full of love, fun, adventure and enrichment. She is smart, kind and she doesn’t let her past impact her new life.
Mollie is a “Cattle dog cross”. She is the size of a small Cattle dog but we are told there is possibly Rottweiler? In her genetics (that could be just because of her colouring though).
Whatever genes Mollie has, they are perfect in every way.
