Looking for a goofy, loveable ball of energy? Look no further than Oakley!
Oakley was originally adopted from NQAR as a young pup and is back with us due to no fault of his own. He’s taken it all in his stride though and is adapting well to his foster home, getting along well with the other dogs and little human.
Oakley is very much the epitome of an energetic young working dog who likes to go, go, go. He loves running around and rough housing with the other young dog in his foster home, but knows to give the older dog her space. He loves playing fetch, tug of war, chasing the hose - you name it he’s keen for it! Oakley has previously been the only dog in the household however we think he’d make a great companion for another playful young dog. He also loves kids and loves to follow the 3 yo in the house around, although being a bouncy young fella can sometimes be a tad exuberant and mouthy.
Oakley knows the basics like sit and stay but being an excitable young guy needs reminding now and then. His leash walking skills are a work in progress - he’s very ‘enthusiastic’ and pulls a lot, and can be reactive when he sees/hears other dogs. He’s very food motivated so with consistent training and boundaries this should improve. He’s quite alert and will bark if something is not as it should be.
At the end of a busy day playing Oakley is happy to lay at his foster carer’s feet and get belly rubs and give smooches. At night he sleeps quietly in his crate without a peep.
Oakley does have sensitive skin and has been prone to flare ups of itchy skin in the past. Currently it’s well controlled with a sensitive skin dog food however future flare-ups are possible and may require medication. Further information can be provided to those interested in adopting.
Oakley will suit an active household that will give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs and the interaction he craves on a daily basis. He hasn’t been destructive or a problem barker whilst in care but this could potentially be an issue if he’s not kept busy. He’s a sweet boy without an aggressive bone in his body, and with a dedicated home he will grow into a wonderful companion.
Oakley is $350 to adopt and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative) and given flea/tick/worm prevention.
