About Ziggy
Some stories break your heart before they mend it and Socks' journey is one of them.
When Socks arrived in to our care, he was carrying the painful reminder of a collar that had been placed on him as a tiny kitten and never removed. As he grew, the collar didn't. It slowly cut into his body, causing a horrific wound that required extensive veterinary treatment and ongoing care. It's something no animal should ever have to endure.
And yet, Socks never stopped being the sweetest soul in the room.
From day one, he has been the biggest angel. Through procedures, bandage changes, medications, and weeks of careful monitoring, Socks remained gentle, trusting, and unbelievably affectionate. He never complained ... well, except about having to wear the dreaded "cone of shame" (which he wore with dramatic disapproval but total compliance).
For almost two months, Socks hung out in the shelter while he healed. During that time, he won over every single staff member. He greeted us with happy eyes, leaned into pats, and soaked up every bit of love and attention he could get. Despite everything he's been through, he is super friendly, social, and full of joy. He truly is still a kitten at heart; playful, curious, and always ready for affection.
Now, his body has healed beautifully, and he's finally ready to find his forever home.
Socks will still need a little ongoing support as he continues to recover fully, and he'll need an owner who can keep a close eye on his skin health and provide any follow-up care recommended by our vet team. Most of all, he needs love - consistent, patient, doting love. After what he's endured, he deserves a lifetime of comfort, safety, and gentle hands.
Socks' story is also an important reminder of why properly fitting collars and regular checks are so critical, especially for growing kittens. But more than that, it's a reminder of how resilient animals can be.
If you're looking for a genuinely beautiful soul - a cat who has proven his kindness in the face of hardship - Socks is your boy. He has already survived the worst. Now he just needs someone to show him the very best of life.
Could you be the happy ending this brave little survivor has been waiting for?
