About Juliette
đ Meet Juliette â A Little Poodle Who Deserves the World đ
Juliette is a 5 year and 7 month old Miniature Poodle with a story that could have ended very differently.
She came into rescue after being listed on Gumtree for a quick $50 sale. A beautiful girl who had already given birth to two litters in her short life, reduced to a price tag. Thankfully, she was seen by the rescue, saved, and given the second chance she so deeply deserved.
When Juliette arrived in care, she was not well. She had an undiagnosed condition, a ravenous hunger and thirst, a very unhealthy swollen belly, and very little fur â just patchy tufts scattered across her body. She didnât look like the elegant little Poodle she was meant to be.
Our rescue and the incredible vets acted quickly. Testing confirmed Cushingâs Disease, and medication was started almost immediately. After just a few days stabilising at the clinic, Juliette moved into her loving foster home â and thatâs where her transformation truly began.
Her foster family carefully nurtured her back to health. Her coat was gently tended to (even when she looked bald for a few weeks, she still looked cherished). With daily medication, a nourishing home-cooked diet full of vegetables, healthy snacks of fruit and veggies, and the company of a calm fur-friend, Juliette began to thrive.
And oh⊠how she has blossomed.
đŸ The Everyday Girl
Juliette is toilet trained and confidently uses a doggy door (with the flap open). She isnât crate trained and prefers having the freedom to choose her own comfy spot.
She is a very sedate, gentle girl â calm and content. Sheâs generally quiet, only giving a polite little greeting bark if she hears voices over the fence or a knock at the door.
She sleeps tucked safely under the bed at night but hops up in the morning for soft cuddles to start her day. Her favourite place in the house is wherever itâs cool â usually the wooden floor â but always close to her humans.
đž Social & Sweet
Juliette seems fine with children, though due to her condition and her strong love of food, she may be best suited to a home with older kids (she will absolutely help herself to any snacks within reach).
She doesnât mind other dogs but prefers calm companions and is not fussed on overly energetic dogs. She would be perfectly happy as an only dog soaking up her humanâs attention. She has been cat tested and was not overly interested.
đ¶ The Fun Side of Juliette
Donât let her calm nature fool you â this girl loves life.
She adores car rides, beach outings, walks, and even a little run (as long as itâs not too warm). She can comfortably walk 2â5km and walks beautifully on lead.
Her biggest motivation? Food. Without question. Food is life, according to Juliette.
She is learning to enjoy being brushed and does best with gentle handling and a reward afterwards. Grooming will be an ongoing part of her care as her coat continues to improve [photos will show as Juliettes fur grew]
đ A Little Note About Cushingâs
Juliette has Cushingâs Disease, which simply means her body produces too much cortisol. Itâs not something she chose, and itâs not something she can control â but it is manageable.
She may drink more water, need to toilet more frequently, and carry a slightly round belly that only adds to her unique charm. With daily medication and regular vet check-ups, dogs with Cushingâs can live happy, comfortable, love-filled lives.
Juliette is currently on a once-daily liquid medication (a bottle lasts approximately four months on average). Combined with her healthy diet and attentive care, she is doing beautifully.
What Juliette needs isnât sympathy â just a committed, loving home willing to continue her medication and support her health.
In return, she will give you quiet loyalty, gentle companionship, beach walks, morning cuddles, and a grateful heart that knows it has been saved.
Sometimes the dogs who need a little extra care are the ones who love the deepest.
Juliette has already survived being overlooked once. Now sheâs waiting for the person who will look at her and say,
âYouâre worth so much more than $50. Youâre priceless.â đđŸ
