Hi... I'm Curly Whirly.

I'm a little Maltese with a big name. Like my chocolate namesake, I have an outer shell on the outside at first... but give me a moment and you'll find I'm all ooey-gooey sweetness in the middle.

The shelter is a lot for a small girl like me. It's loud, it's busy, and sometimes it makes me feel smaller than I already am. I'm still figuring out who I am and whether the world is a safe place. I might only just let you pat me at first - I need to be sure you're gentle. You can't rush me or force affection on me. If I'm unsure, I need you to listen to that and give me space. When I feel safe, I promise I'll come to you.

Because of this, I need a calm home with secondary school-aged kids or older who can read my body language and understand that I have to warm up in my own time. Slow movements, soft voices, and patience will mean everything to me.

But bring out a squeaky toy and give me a little space to run, and you'll see the real me start to peek out. Once I decide you're my person, I'll follow you everywhere like your tiny, fluffy shadow. Treats? Meh. I just want you. Your time. Your company. Your quiet love.

I tend to get overwhelmed easily, loud noises can make me jump and too much commotion all at once can make me want to shrink back and watch from a safe distance. So it's not surprising that I'll need to be the only dog in your household, and avoid dog busy areas. All that in-your-face interaction is just way too much for me right now!

I'm looking for a peaceful forever home where I can untwist all my worries, melt into the couch beside you, and learn how to be brave. With patience, kindness, and respect for my boundaries, I promise I'll be the softest, sweetest caramel centre you could ever hope for.
