Adoption information
About Kana
Hi! I'm Kana and I'm looking for a new family to call my own.
APPLICATION PROCESS APPLIES FOR KANA
PLEASE COMPLETE THE BELOW APPLICATION FORM
https://forms.gle/K3c9mjcp3ESzzpNS7
NOTE: You are unable to meet Kana until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Kana in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.
What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family
• A doggie playmate would be great for my confidence, I am best suited with a submissive male dog but I am also happy to go by myself and soak up all the attention for myself.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs and happy to say hello when out and about but I do prefer to be the boss.
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• A diet of good quality dry food to help keep my teeth clean
• I can be shy at first so I need a family who'll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time
• I LOVE water and would love to have my very own clam pool to laze around in.
• SOCIALISATION is as important for me as it appears I've led a very sheltered life and can be very nervous/shy meeting new people. Since being at the shelter I'm becoming much braver though. Taking me to lots of different places, meeting lots of people (children, men, woman etc) and meeting lots of dogs and other animals will help boost my confidence
Things that I don't want in my new home:
• Children under 12yrs as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok.
• Cats or small animals as I may find them fun to chase
My best features:
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans once I get to know you.
• Well mannered
• Love to snooze on the couch
• I LOVE the water and will splash about in my water bowl, play with the hose and swim in the basin/river.
Where I need to improve / Training required
• I will require full basic training as I've had no training experience yet but I am a generally well mannered girl.
• I'm learning to walk on the lead at the shelter and am getting much better. I'm still a bit slow and fearful but with lots of practice I should soon look forward to a daily stroll around the neighbourhood.
• I am shy at first with new people and in new environments so will require a family who will take their time allowing me to settle in and continue on with my socialization
• I am extremely timid in new situations such as entering a building/home. I MUST have a family who'll allow me inside so I can see it isn't a scary place and to allow my confidence to grow.
Medical notes
Hips
X-rays show evidence of mild hip dysplasia. Kana's new owner will need to be mindful of maintaining a healthy body weight and avoiding highly strenuous exercise. Recommend joint supplement early to help slow degeneration and arthritis as Kana ages.
Skin
May be prone to allergies in the future resulting in itchy skin. Suggest feeding allergenic food and using Malaseb shampoo and anti-histamines during flare ups.
