About Zelda
This stunning girl was found as a stray, trying to survive on her own while carrying babies of her own. She gave birth safely once in care, but tragically, her kittens didn't make it. After losing them, Zelda didn't understand where they had gone. The world that had already been so hard suddenly felt even colder, and she withdrew into herself - quiet, unsure, and grieving.
When she first came into the shelter, Zelda was deeply conflicted. She wanted comfort, but she didn't yet know if it was safe to trust. Returning to the shelter environment after her loss has been difficult for her, and she can seem like a girl carrying a heavy sadness. But underneath that fragile exterior is a heart that wants to love - she just needs someone patient enough to help her feel whole again.
Her dedicated foster carers gently guided her through this grief, giving her the time and kindness she needed to begin healing. They shared that even in her saddest moments, Zelda found comfort in being close:
"Throughout this time she quite liked to be petted. As the days went on she gained more and more confidence, wanting to spend time with me - jumping up on my bed, sleeping with me, playing with me. It was so sweet. She purrs so loudly when she is happy. A special thing about Zelda is that she LOVES forehead kisses, and will give you endless head butts in return."
This is the Zelda we are hoping to find again.
A gentle soul who bonds deeply with her person.
A quiet companion who will choose you, sit beside you, and love you with complete devotion.
A girl who may start off unsure, but who, with time, will blossom into the most loyal and affectionate friend you could ask for.
Zelda isn't looking for a busy household or instant expectations. She needs a calm, understanding home where she can move at her own pace, rebuild her confidence, and feel safe enough to let her guard down. Once she does, you'll discover her soft purrs, her sweet little headbutts, and her absolute adoration for forehead kisses.
She has already survived so much. Now she just needs someone to show her that her story has a happy chapter waiting.
Zelda is part of our Rescue or Rehome program, where we are committed to finding homes for cats and kittens who simply cannot cope in the shelter environment. If you can open your heart and home to Zelda - or if you're a rescue group able to help - please reach out to us at adoptions@dogshome.com
