About Toad & Beetle
Toad and Beetle are an adorable pair of brother rats. These two are young and full of life, ready to be your new best friends! You'll quickly fall in love with their sweet faces and beautiful contrasting colours.
These two are looking for a home with plenty of love and fun to occupy their busy minds. Like most rats, Toad and Beetle are clever, intelligent animals who love to explore new cage lay outs, especially climbing toys and hammocks. They are adept problem solvers and you'll never get bored with these two to observe. Provide them with a spacious cage filled with toys, and you'll get endless amusement in return!
Toad and Beetle would be a good fit for those new to rats as well as more experienced homes, and might be suitable for homes with older, respectful children. Like most rats, they're not fond of cuddles, but with time and patience, they will certainly grow to trust you enough for some shoulder rides. These two are very friendly, and are always happy to come to the cage door for treats. If you have cat or dog family members, please put thought into how you will keep them safely away from the cage.
If you're looking to bring a pre-bonded pair of rats into your home and think that you can keep them happy and entertained for the rest of their lives (2-2.5 years), please send us an enquiry and we'll get back to you as soon as possible and get these lovely gals into their forever home. Homes with other male or desexed female rats are very welcome to apply to add these two to their existing group. They can also be adopted with other male members of their family.
Toad and Beetle will be treated with a parasite preventative prior to adoption.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions.
Adoption details
All of our animals are seeking indoor only homes. We do not adopt out any animal to live alone (excluding entire male mice). If you do not have one or more compatible animals of the same species, you must adopt a bonded pair or group.
Once you apply to adopt, we'll talk with you about proper care of the animals you're looking to adopt, discuss any concerns you or we might have, and tell you more about our available animals. Using the application form on our website will ensure that you don't leave anything out.
Otherwise, please include as much detail as possible about your situation, other animals, experience with the species you're looking to adopt, and intended housing/diet when you apply. If there's a particular vet clinic you intend to use, please tell us the name (otherwise we can help you locate one that is knowledgable in small animals).
As part of the adoption process we require photos of a complete, suitable set up. We suggest contacting us prior to buying any cages or items for your new family members as many sold for small animals are not appropriate. We've also outlined our housing expectations on our social media, but don't be intimidated! We are here to help, not judge.
At the time of adoption, you'll be asked to pay an adoption fee and sign an adoption form. You'll receive an adoption packet including a detailed care guide for the species you've adopted, an adoption certificate, and any relevant veterinary records (proof of vaccination and sterilisation, microchip details, etc).
