About Ophelia
Meet Ophelia (Opi) – Your One and Only Best Friend 🐾
Introducing beautiful Ophelia or Opi for short sweet young girl with a heart bigger than you could ever imagine. At just over one year old, Opi has already endured more than most dogs should in a lifetime. She was on her second litter of puppies when she was rushed to the vet with a dangerously high temperature caused by life-threatening milk fever. Heartbreakingly, she was surrendered to rescue without her puppies.
When Opi first came into care, she was incredibly insecure and would cower when someone reached for her. It quickly became clear to her foster carers that she had missed out on so many normal puppy experiences. She didn’t know what grass was. She appeared to have never walked on a lead. The world was a very unfamiliar place. But oh, how this girl has blossomed.
Fast forward to today, and Opi has discovered her zest for life. She absolutely loves her toys and enjoys an evening zoomie session playing chase. Walk time? That’s her favourite! She gets so excited she almost does full 360° spins with joy. While lead walking is still a learning curve, Opi is a quick learner and improves with every outing.
More than anything, Opi adores her humans. She wants nothing more than to be close preferably on your lap. If given the opportunity, she will happily curl up and soak in your affection for hours. She sleeps beside her foster mum in bed and greets you with pure delight when you return home. Her love is wholehearted and constant. Opi does take her watchdog duties seriously and can be a little vocal, but she is learning to settle when asked. She is currently in foster care with both large and small dogs, as well as cats, and gets along beautifully with them all.
However, Opi isn’t comfortable around small children, so she is looking for a home without young kids. Opi would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time someone looking for a loyal little companion who will shadow them from room to room and fill their days with love. She truly has an enormous heart and so much affection to give. She sometimes like to chew things up, if left in her reach. Needs to be taken outside on queue for toilet stops or will go inside as she most likely wasn’t toilet training however we expect this to continue to improve. She can bark excessively and needs to be told to stop. Still reactive on walks as learning in new environments as she hasn’t been exposed to these things before.
If you’re searching for a devoted best friend who will treasure you every single day, Ophelia might just be your perfect match. 💛
