Tex is a gorgeous, people-loving Dachshund with a sweet personality and an affectionate temperament. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and sleeps beautifully through the night. Tex barks when appropriate, is very dog-friendly, but not keen on cats.
Tex loves car rides—especially hanging his head out the window with the breeze on his face. He enjoys outings, playtime, and is always up for an outing. Balls, the beach, and a good game are high on his list of favourite things.
In the evenings, Tex has the sweetest habit of snuggling on the couch, burrowing in behind you with just his little head poking out—classic Dachshund charm at its finest. He’s treat-motivated, easy to train, well-mannered and good on leash.
Tex would do best in a single-level home with limited steps, a secure yard, and with someone who is home most of the time, as he is very people-focused and thrives on companionship. He’s suitable for a home with older primary-school-aged children or teenagers.
Playful, affectionate, and utterly lovable, Tex is the kind of dog who quickly becomes the centre of your world. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with loads of personality, Tex might just be your perfect match. 💛

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
If you are interested in one of our cats or kittens, please click on the green "Enquire about ...", button, tell us a bit about yourself and the home you can offer the cat, and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
