About Charlie
Charlie is a sensitive, sweet-natured boy who is looking for a patient and understanding home to help him truly shine. He can feel a little conflicted when first meeting new people, but once he builds trust he becomes affectionate and tactile, happily leaning into his person for reassurance. Charlie thrives with a calm, consent-based approach to handling and will do best with adopters who are willing to move at his pace and continue building his confidence. He is food motivated, takes treats gently, and already knows sit, drop, and even offers his paw. On walks he can be enthusiastic and a little boisterous, so ongoing lead training and the use of a harness are recommended to help him learn polite walking skills.
Charlie is still developing his social skills around other dogs and can become over-aroused or frustrated, so continued positive training and carefully managed introductions will be important to help him build appropriate manners. He can also be noise sensitive, so a predictable routine and a safe, quiet space to retreat to will help him feel secure. Charlie would suit a home with teens or adults. A suitably matched canine companion may be considered, provided resources are carefully managed and feeding is done separately. With structure, enrichment, ongoing socialisation, and plenty of reassurance, Charlie has all the potential to grow into a loyal and devoted companion.
Adoption details
Our adoption process is designed to match you with the right pet, the first time. Our team are experts at rehoming animals who have specific needs that match your lifestyle, to ensure every adoption placement will last a lifetime.
At our Peninsula site, adoption hours are 12pm – 4pm. You are welcome to attend our reception office without an appointment to begin our adoption process during adoption hours.
The adoption areas are not free to walk through, and you will need to chat with our staff to confirm that a potential adoption is a good match.
Once the adoption has been discussed, a staff member will facilitate a walk-through of the adoption areas or have an animal brought to you in a greeting area.
