About Stephen - 9 Month Old Mixed Breed
Stephen is a 9 month old large mix breed, handsome boy and a true gentle giant. With his long legs and big paws, he still has some growing to do so he is one for the big dog lovers! This scruffy sweetheart will snuggle his way straight into your heart.
Stephen is the perfect mix of big puppy energy and chilled out cuddle bug. After a few laps of the yard with his soccer ball, a game of tug, or a short walk, he’s more than happy to curl up inside for the day and relax — making him a wonderful work from home companion.
New experiences can be a little overwhelming for Stephen, but with slow gentle exposure in his foster home he is gaining confidence quickly. He is a true family man who loves being part of family life. he is fully house trained, confidently uses the doggy door, and has lovely indoor manners - knows "Sit" "Wait" "Leave It" and "down"
At 9 months old, Stephen is still in his puppy antics era— if bored he may relocate your shoes to his bed, and the unattended loaf of bread on the kitchen bench may be considered fair game.
Stephen reads the room beautifully — calm when the environment is calm and playful when it’s time for fun. He can be left alone indoors (hide your shoes) and is also getting more comfortable spending a few hours alone outside when provided with toys for enrichment. He is thriving on a good quality hybrid diet
Stephen in an emotionally intelligent soul, he shows affection by leaning his body into you or pressing his scruffy face into your lap, offering the most comforting full body hug right when you need it.
🤎 Breed - large mix breed 30kg
🤎 Age- 9 Months
🤎 Vaccinated
🤎 Vet has recommended desex at 1 year
🤎 Sweet natured: Greets you with an excited "wiggle bum" and a gentle lean-in hug
🤎 Family focused: Loves kids; best suited to dog confident children aged 10+ due to his size and puppy enthusiasm, can get over excited when playing making him mouthy/jumpy but corrects well with redirection
🤎 Indoor lover: Must have indoor access; sleeps peacefully on his bed (or if given the chance on the lounge! )
🤎 Brave boy: Can be a little cautious with new experiences and unfamiliar people, but his confidence is growing quickly. With slow gradual introductions he shows just how brave and eager to learn he really is.
🤎 Crate training potential- Has been introduced to a crate; ongoing training required, but progressing well in a short time
🤎 Active learner: Enjoys slow, sniffy walks and is making progress with loose lead manners. As a big, growing boy he can be strong and distracted on lead. He will need ongoing lead training but he will learn quickly and is eager to please.
🤎 Doggy friend potential: May suit a confident, well matched large dog companion. As he hasn’t had much social exposure yet, introductions will need to be assessed.
