About Roy
💛 Meet Roy — Small Body, Big Personality
At just 4.7kg, Roy might be tiny — but his heart and personality are absolutely huge.
This adorable 1 year and 5 month old Maltese/Shih Tzu came into care through private surrender, through no fault of his own. Now he’s ready to bounce his way into a forever home that matches his joyful, playful spirit.
🐶 Mr Social Butterfly
Roy truly believes that everyone is worth saying hello to. The neighbour walking past? Hello! The dog across the road? Definitely hello!
He can be a little barky on walks or when someone passes by, but it’s simply his way of chatting and announcing that he’s ready to make friends. Once he has a doggy buddy to focus on, he settles beautifully.
While he hasn’t been formally cat tested, he does enjoy “talking” to cats he sees on fences — for this reason, we wouldn’t recommend a home with cats.
🎾 Play Hard, Cuddle Harder
Roy is energetic and playful — he will happily play all day, especially if he has another dog to wrestle and zoom around with. In fact, he needs another playful dog in his forever home. Ideally, a younger small-to-medium sized dog who can keep up with his energy (and won’t accidentally hurt him during rough-and-tumble play).
After playtime? He’s more than happy to snuggle. Roy loves cuddles, enjoys being held, and will happily curl up beside you, in his dog bed, on the rug, or on your bed (he’s great with steps or a ramp).
His favourite place in the house? Wherever you — or his doggy friend — are.
🏡 Home & Habits
Roy is toilet trained and has previously used a doggy door (he may just need a quick refresher in a new home). He isn’t crate trained.
He walks well on lead, though he can pull a little when he’s excited. With his little legs, 30-minute walks are perfect — especially if there are plenty of good sniffs along the way.
He LOVES his food and can inhale his dinner in record time if allowed! He’s very food motivated, though occasionally a little picky — but a cuddle is always a reward he’ll gladly accept.
👶 Family Life
Roy has lived with young children, including a baby and a busy toddler, with no issues. He is gentle and tolerant, though like many small dogs, he appreciates respectful interactions and his own space when needed. As always, supervision with young children is important to help everyone feel safe and comfortable.
✂️ Grooming & Coat
Roy’s coat will require regular grooming to keep it healthy and mat-free. As his coat grows longer, it brings through some gorgeous dark grey colouring, giving him a richer look. When kept shorter, he appears much more cream and grey. Either way, he’s absolutely adorable — just in slightly different outfits!
Routine brushing and professional grooming will keep him looking and feeling his best.
💫 The Sweetest Little Quirk
When Roy wants your attention, he’ll sniff and snort at you in the cutest possible way — it’s his signature move, and it’s impossible not to laugh.
💛 Why You’ll Love Roy
Roy is affectionate, playful, and full of character. He doesn’t just want a home — he wants a best friend (preferably two… one human and one canine).
If you’re looking for a cheerful little companion who will keep you smiling, keep your current dog entertained, and happily snuggle into your arms at the end of the day, Roy might just be your perfect match. 🐾✨

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.

Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
