About Pickle

Pickle is a stunning 12-month-old, working line German Shepherd that found himself in the pound a few months ago. Pickle had not been treated very nicely by humans and has spent the last few months in GSRV foster care learning to trust and that humans can be kind. Pickle is now ready to find his forever home, with someone that can continue his training and socialisation.
Pickle is a big goofy puppy that is all about 1 thing, FUN! Like most young dogs, Pickle still has a lot of maturing to do, he is a typical teenager that is in need of boundaries and guidance. Pickle is still learning impulse control and will need an owner experienced with head-strong, young dogs that are still learning. Pickle is not suited to a first time German Shepherd owner and will need a home with kids over 12.
Pickle loves to play and has a decent drive; he loves to play fetch and tug and enjoys having a large open space in his foster home to run around and chase rabbits in. Pickle is also highly food motivated and picks up new commands well, if someone is looking for a dog they can train to a higher level, this boy is oozing potential.
Pickle has had an isolated life, and will need ongoing training and socialisation, his new owner must be committed to going above and beyond for Pickle, to ensure he integrates into society and becomes a good doggy citizen. We highly recommend Pickle and his new human work with a trainer to make realistic training and exposure goals and learn how best to achieve them.
Pickle enjoys the company of other dogs and LOVES to chase and be chased, play rough and wrestle; he can become a little boisterous at times and lack manners, he doesn’t always listen when other dogs have had enough and will need to work on this. Pickle may benefit living with another large breed dog, however the ability to separate and give the other dog a break is a must to ensure a harmonious home life. When Pickle is relaxed, he loves to snuggle up with other dogs and sleep with them, he is quite comfortable sharing his space and hanging out.
Pickle would not be suited to a home with cats or other small pets, he is also very curious around livestock.
Pickle is an active dog and will need lots of physical exercise, as well as mental enrichment to keep him out of mischief. Pickle would love to go for hikes and adventures; he may even enjoy running or other dog sports combined with regular training sessions to keep his mind working.
Yes, Pickle is a little pocket rocket, but he is also super cuddly and affectionate, he enjoys being wherever his humans are, waiting for a pat or a cuddle on the bed and couch. Pickle is used to having someone around often in foster care, he spends his time both indoors and outdoors.
This black beauty is oozing potential and in the right hands, we know he will become the most incredible dog. The sky is the limit for this boy; he just needs someone to help him reach it! If you are an experienced shepherd owner and have the time and commitment to give to a cheeky, teenage pup who is still learning, then Pickle could be the one for you!

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
