About Gromit
If we had written Gromit's profile when he first came to the rescue, we would be writing about a different cat. He's come so far! While he still looks permanently startled (we think he just has resting shocked face), and can be a bit shy with new people, once he loves and trusts you, he is an absolute snuggle bug.
He loves cuddles so much that if he feels you haven't cuddled him enough recently then he will come and tap you on the leg asking to be picked up. Once you do pick him up, he purrs so loudly, and snuggles in and absolutely steals your heart. He also loves snuggling up with you in bed.
His trust is pretty easily earned with time and creamy treats. He's absolutely mad for them. Shelly's Place has a two week trial period with all of their cats so you have plenty of time to build a connection with him before you have to commit. He is so absolutely worth it.
He gets on with the other cats in his foster home with no issues. While he's fostered in a household with kids, he builds a connection with adults much more easily, and so would probably be happier in a household with just adults or with older kids.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions. Note: When Gromit came to the rescue he had an injury on the end of his tail. This has healed, but fur at the tip is still growing back.
Adoption details
ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. An Adoption enquiry should be made via
https://form.jotform.com/shellys.place.rescue/adoption-enquiry
2. Once your application has been received, one of our volunteers will contact you for a phone interview. This is to determine whether one of our cats or kittens will be a good fit for your home. We all want long-term success in placing rescue animals, so finding the best fit for the animal AND the family is very important.
3. 'Meet & Greet' with the animal and their carer will then take place if the application is approved.
4. A property check will take place via a video. Once this has been successfully completed, adoption paperwork finalised and the adoption donation processed, the pet can be collected from foster care.
5. A 14 day settling-in period commences once the animal has been collected from foster care.
6. Adoption is finalised after 14 days. Paperwork/records will be included in an adoption pack.
7. All animals will be rehomed desexed, 1st vaccinated, microchipped and treated monthly for fleas and intestinal worms. Once the adoption is finalised, the new owners are responsible for all vaccinations and preventative treatments.
As we are run entirely of volunteers we endeavour to respond to your enquiry as soon as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to hold any animals. Please only apply if you are ready to adopt now.
