About Sir Fergus the Magnificent! - Adopted!
Adopted!
utterly adorable fergus was rescued from a pound in one of the worst states i've ever seen a cat in. He was matted, filthy, covered in fleas, ears full of mites untreated infections in his eyes and ears, he had teeth missing and what remained were rotten and putrid and despite it all and the unimaginable neglect that caused him to be in that state, he was so friendly, sweet, calm and affectionate, and it only took a scratch behind his infested, matted ear to make him purr with delight!
once fergus arrived in care the massive task of treating the years of neglect begun. He had been crudely clipped in places at the pound but apart from that all of his ailments needed treating. First up he was treated for his fleas and mites and his face was cleaned up as best as it could be to try to see just how bad things were. He could barely open his eyes and his breath was a sure indication that his teeth needed immediate attention. He then had a general check up to see if there were any other health problems that we were unaware of, which thankfully there didn't seem to be, so next up he was anesthetised, given a full dental, including 3 extractions, and a good clean of his remaining teeth. His feet were clipped and his nails that were so long they were threatening to dig back into his paw pads were cut and then it was onto his eyes. His right tear duct was successfully unblocked but the scar tissue from so many years of neglect around his left eye had all but obliterated his left tear duct and nothing was able to be done for that. An injection of antibiotics was then given and after recovering for a few hours he came home and almost instantly you could see the relief he felt at no longer having painful teeth and eyes, and at actually feeling like a cat again!
fergus requires drops in his ears and ointment in his eyes twice a day for the next few weeks, but as that is something his new owner can do, i see no reason for him not to begin his search for his forever home now!
after having endured years of neglect, fergus will from now on, only ever have the best for the rest of his days, and will only be available to a home who will adore and spoil him in the manner he deserves!
fergus eats tuna in spring water or chicken and premium dry food and he would like to continue to do so in his new home (though i dare say he'd also take to the gourmet cat food varieties)
generally speaking, fergus likes wandering around the house, surveying his home and sitting on the couch contemplating life. He loves having a good go at his scratch post and despite his age has his moments of playfulness when he'll happily chase a ball around the floor madly for a few minutes before deciding that he's above it all and wandering off for a snack or a snooze. Everyone who has met fergus has fallen instantly and completely in love with him, and he is very much the kind of cat you just have to meet to understand how truly wonderful he is. If you think you might be the home fergus is looking for, please email for an adoption questionnaire so his suitability for your home can be determined and a meeting can be arranged!
oh, and one more thing. . . Fergus was missing his lower left canine tooth when he arrived, and had to have his upper left canine removed during his dental. As a result, his tongue has a habit of randomly popping out of his mouth! the unanimous consensus is that this only makes him even cuter, and when he looks at you with his permanently looking grumpy face and with his tongue sticking out, it is one of the most enduring and adorable sites you will ever see! :p
Medical notes
Fergus will probably need ointment/drops put in his eyes on and off for the rest of his life and will need an owner who is committed to doing this. Fergus goes to his new home wormed, flea treated, desexed, microchipped and current in vaccinations
