About Ted
Introducing Ted!
Ted is a Chihuahua born 10th June 2021.
Ted was originally brought into the facility as an underweight stray who was covered in fleas. While he was microchipped, we had issues with his owner. When we finally got through to them we were told they were really struggling to provide for not just the dogs but themselves as well. We ended up taking Ted, his sister & daughter as surrenders to give them their new start at life.
Since being at the facility Ted has really started to let his personality shine. He's incredibly affectionate & tries to climb up you for love. He's cheeky & sweet and is desperate for a home where he can be safe, loved & cherished for the rest of his days.
Ted had mixed reactions when testing him with other dogs. For the most part he was quite playful & happy to interact with them, however, in true Chihuahua fashion, he did try to "take on" a sweet male Jack Russell who was very confused about why he was getting yelled at & abused by a 1.5kg dog. We believe that Ted could be suitable to live with another dog, or be the only spoilt "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home. Ted can also be rehomed with his sister Casper or his daughter Susie as they all get along very well.
Ted seemed to be scared of our resident cat & rooster. We believe that he could be suitable to live with other animals if given a slow & contolled introduction to them.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Ted will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Ted has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility, however we have been told that he can climb certain fencing so he will need a secure yard.
Ted's adoption fee is $1250 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Ted is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
