About Rumi
Hellos, I’m Rumi.
Yes, that Rumi. Or at least that is what my foster mum says when she looks at me and goes all dramatic. “You’re my little demon hunter.” I am not entirely sure what that means, but I accept the title.
I’m a quiet and sweet girl. Easygoing. Chill. I am still finding my voice, which at the moment mostly consists of tiny silent meows. I open my mouth. I try very hard. Sometimes a little squeak comes out. Sometimes it does not. It is a work in progress.
With my sister and brother, I love a good wrestle. We tumble around, roll over each other and then pretend nothing happened. I also live with an older foster cat named Galileo. When he is feeling grumpy, I absolutely respect that. I give him space. Lots of space. I am very polite like that. I am quite happy doing my own thing and watching the world from a safe little spot.
Dogs are still a bit of a mystery to me, but I sit at the front door and watch the neighbour’s dogs race past. They look very busy. I am not bothered. I just observe like the calm queen that I am.
I would be perfectly fine as an only pet. I am independent and comfortable in my own company. Of course, I enjoy wrestling with my siblings, but I do not need constant chaos around me. I like balance. A little play. A little rest. A little dramatic internal monologue like “I’m not scared anymore. I’m ready.” Even if I am just walking into the kitchen.
New people are wonderful. I warm up very quickly and once I do, the purring starts. And it does not stop. I am a proper purr machine. Pick me up, give me a gentle pat, tell me I am pretty. I will reward you with steady, happy rumbles.
I do not really have a favourite toy. I am more of a sibling wrestler than a solo athlete. Although I do love the tunnel. There is something very satisfying about running through it at full speed and bursting out the other end like I have just completed an epic quest.
Litter training is perfect. Truly. No accidents. No fuss. I like to keep things tidy.
There are no behavioural concerns here. No anxiety. No drama. Just a soft, gentle girl who is learning that the world is safe and that her little voice matters.
So hellos again. If you are looking for a calm, affectionate, quietly confident kitten who will purr like it is her full time job and share peaceful moments with you, I think I might be your girl.
