About Kodiak
Hi, I’m Kodi… and I’m kind of a big deal.
If you’ve ever wanted a best mate who thinks personal space is overrated, I’m your guy.
I’m a 40kg lap dog (I mean lab dog) and I’m happiest when I’m with my humans. Watching TV? I’ll help. Working from home? I’ll supervise. Need a shower? I wasn’t invited, but I’ll probably turn up anyway.
I’m a big softie who lives for cuddles. I’ll happily lean into you, curl up beside you (or on you), and soak up pats for as long as you’re willing to give them. Brushing? Even better. Keep brushing… I could stay there all day.
One of my favourite hobbies is redecorating cardboard boxes. Give me an empty box and I’ll turn it into confetti in no time. I love to shred cardboard for my humans garden. Oddly enough, I don’t destroy furniture, shoes or your belongings, I save my artistic talents for cardboard.
I love my toys and I’ll throw them around the yard, chase them, and proudly parade them around like I’ve won an Olympic medal. I also love food and already know sit, shake and drop. I’m learning to wait politely and I’m catching on really well because… treats.
I’m house trained and don’t have accidents indoors.
Now, because I’m looking for the right family, here’s the honest bit.
I’m a big, strong boy who sometimes forgets just how big I am. I adore kids, but because of my size I’d be better suited to a home with older children who won’t get accidentally bowled over during one of my happy moments.
I can be reactive to other dogs on lead, but my foster family has been working with me and I’m improving all the time. At home I happily live with a Great Dane and a bossy Catahoula who keeps me in line. I do like to boss around the timid Border Collie, so I’d be happiest with a confident dog who won’t be intimidated, or I’d absolutely love being your one and only.
I also think bones are mine, thank you very much, so I need someone who understands sensible management around high-value treats.
Cats? Probably not my thing. They are fun to chase though.
What I really want is someone who’ll include me in their life. Take me for walks. Play with me in the backyard. Let me snooze at your feet after a big day. Love me for the goofy, affectionate, oversized teddy bear that I am.
I’ve been waiting over seven months for someone to notice me.
Maybe that someone is you.
If you’d like to meet me, please tell my rescue a little about yourself, your home, any pets you already have, and where you’re located.
If you have any further questions and would like to meet Kodiak , his foster human is available to chat about him.
