About Bear
š¤ Meet Bear ā Your Ultimate Training Partner & Adventure Mate š¤
Bear is an impressive young German Shepherd with a fantastic combination of temperament, drive, and trainability.
He has excellent manners and a solid foundation in basic obedience, making him a pleasure to handle. Bear also brings great working drive, showing strong enthusiasm for ball and tug toys, making him ideal for someone wanting to channel that energy into training or dog sports.
Bear is a stable dog with moderate to high drive, supported by a solid nerve and confident temperament. He has a natural, easy-going nature paired with strong physical structure, giving him both presence and capability.
He displays excellent kennel etiquette, is well socialised, and remains neutral around other dogs, puppies, and even farm animals. Bear has also been exposed to a variety of environments and everyday stressors, handling them with confidence and composure.
Since being rescued from a large Western Sydney shelter in February, Bear has been in professional training and care with Hooked on Hounds, where he has continued to thrive and develop.
Bear would be best suited to an active home, someone interested in dog sports, or a motivated handler or aspiring trainer looking for a reliable demonstration dog. He is also perfect for someone wanting to build their skills with a fun, energetic, and highly capable companion. Due to his size and strength, Bear is not suitable for a home with small children.
If youāre looking for a smart, driven, and well-rounded dog to take on lifeās adventures, Bear is your boy. š¾
Bear is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making him a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet him. Should he, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing him back to Sydney or helping us rehome him from your home.
If you have recently owned a German Shepherd or large breed dog, and understand German Shepherd and think you have the commitment to give him a new home, then please select the "Enquire about Bearā and we will send you an application form or go to our website and complete the application form.

We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
