About Bear
Introducing Bear, a highly intelligent and affectionate 4 year old semi coated German Shepherd, with a heart full of love and a spirit brimming with loyalty. Bear is a fun loving shepherd who enjoys his play time and tug games but he still has the German Shepherd noble presence.
Bear will require a committed family who will engage with him, providing the playtime and stimulation to keep him a calm and well balanced shepherd.
German shepherds require consistency with a daily routine, every day should include playtime, continued training to ensure that they feel they are a member of your family and inclusion in the home.
Bear has yet to be tested with cats or pocket pets. Due to his fun loving nature and size Bear is not suitable to go to a home with young children.
Currently in care with our qualified dog trainers, Hooked on Hounds, Bear has excelled at his recall, lead walking and his “on the bed” command.
Bear had now decompressed having been brought into one of Sydney’s largest animal shelter facilities before we rescued him. He loves to play fetch and engage with the many dogs currently in the trainer’s care.
His ideal family will appreciate the loyalty and companionship that an adult shepherd can give once in a caring and stable home.
Bear is currently available for adoption in NSW, ACT, Queensland and Victoria. If you're interested in making him a cherished member of your family, you'll need to drive with your loved ones to meet him. Should he, for any reason, not be the perfect fit for your family, you would be responsible for either bringing him back to Sydney or helping us rehome him from your home.
If you have recently owned a German Shepherd or large breed dog, and understand German Shepherd and think you have the commitment to give him a new home, then please select the "Enquire about Bear” and we will send you an application form or go to our website and complete the application form.

We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
