About Squirrel
Hi. My name is Squirrel.
I did not come from a good place. I came from a hoarding situation where kindness and love were not things I knew. Because of that, my world used to feel very big and very scary. But I want you to know something important. I am safe now. And I have come such a long way.
I am a gentle, thoughtful girl who enjoys her own space but also craves connection. I would do beautifully as an only pet. I like knowing my home is calm and predictable, and I really thrive when I have regular companionship. I do not enjoy being left alone for long stretches. I like knowing my person is nearby.
I have not lived with other cats, but I have shown friendly curiosity toward a cat who visits outside at night. I watch through the glass door, calm and interested. Dogs do not seem to bother me either. I will quietly observe the neighbours dogs from a distance, though I have not had close interaction with dogs in my home.
Children are a bit much for me. Loud noises and lots of activity still make me feel overwhelmed, so I would be happiest in a quiet adult home where things move gently and slowly. New people can make me nervous at first too. I need time. Patience. Soft voices. Once I feel safe, I open up more every day.
Playtime has become one of my joys. I love scrunched paper balls and anything I can bat into the air. I am even learning to play fetch and I bring the toy back most of the time. I adore interactive games like wand toys because they help me bond and build trust. They make me feel brave.
My litter manners are perfect. I take pride in that.
I do carry some anxiety from my past, but I am not broken. I am healing. With love and consistency, my confidence keeps growing. I am proof that gentle care can change everything.
I have a few quirks that make people smile. If you are not giving me enough attention, I will lift my front left paw and gently pat you. If that does not work, I will stand up on my hind legs so you really understand the message. I am also quite chatty and like to talk to my people. At night, I am an excellent cuddle companion and love settling in close.
I will only go to a very special home. One that understands where I have come from and is willing to keep meeting me with patience and kindness.
Once I trust you, I am deeply affectionate, loyal, and incredibly bonded. I do not give my heart easily. But when I do, it is yours completely.
