Nyla is a stunning young Maremma with the most delightful, expressive smile — a reflection of her happy, people-loving nature and the gentle way she moves through the world.
She has been raised in a family home alongside a toddler and is exceptionally child-friendly, showing patience, calmness and a genuine fondness for children. Nyla loves people and enjoys being part of everyday family life.
Nyla is dog-friendly and regularly attends local dog parks, where she socialises well with other dogs. She is also cat-friendly, making her a lovely option for homes with existing pets.
True to her breed, Nyla is thoughtful and observant, but she is also affectionate and relaxed with those she knows. She is not a fence jumper; however, secure fencing is essential to keep her safe and contained, as it is for all large guardian breeds.
Nyla would thrive in a home that understands Maremmas and where someone is around nearly all the time. She’s very much an inside-outside dog and loves being with her people. If left alone for extended periods, she will bark. She is growing into a confident, well-rounded young dog and will make a devoted and loyal companion for the right family.

Adoption details
Dogs:
(1) The first step is to complete the online adoption application form at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/ Please answer all questions and include photos of your yard and fencing.
(2) All applications will be considered by our Adoption Team, following which a "meet and greet" will be offered to the top-ranking applicant.
(3) If the “meet and greet" is successful, the applicant may adopt the dog and take him or her home the same day.
(4) For successful interstate applicants, different arrangements may apply and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Cats:
If you are interested in one of our cats or kittens, please click on the green "Enquire about ...", button, tell us a bit about yourself and the home you can offer the cat, and one of our volunteers will be in touch.
