About Ferdinand
Meet Ferdinand — a handsome 2.5-year-old Staffy cross with a big heart and an even bigger love for butt scritches.
Ferdinand can be a little unsure of the world at first, so he does best when people take things slow and let him build trust at his own pace. Once you’re “his person,” though? Get ready for cuddles, affection, and enthusiastic butt rub requests, they’re basically his life goal. Ferdi is on medication for his anxiety, which can slowly be weened off (under vet instructions) once he has settled into his forever home.
This clever boy is very food motivated and already knows sit, touch (hand target), and look so there is no end to what he can learn! He absolutely loves nose work, toys, and his favourite; posing for photos when treats are involved. Ferdinand is a strong boy but walks well on a harness and will need a hand to remember his walking manners while he’s still learning about the world.
Ferdinand has learnt to enjoy the company of people, but he can be a little shy to start with. With patience, predictability, and kindness, he settles well and shows his truly affectionate nature.
For now, a single pet home would be best while this sweet boy settles into home life and finds stability. He has shown social behaviour with dogs but can be conflicted and unsure, so some on lead walks with calm, confident dogs to build his own confidence up and melt his worries away wouldn’t go astray!
Ferdinand’s ideal home would be with experienced, calm adopters who understand anxious dogs, and are happy to go slow and take things at Ferdi’s pace, to be rewarded with a loyal, loving companion who will shower them with cuddles, devotion, and endless butt scritches. If you’re looking for a dog who will truly bond with you and blossom with training, structure, and kindness, Ferdinand might just be your guy.
