About Dixie
Introducing Dixie!
Dixie is a Maltese x born 25th February 2021.
Dixie, her sister & nephew were all brought in as strays. Dixie & Dolly were both in incredibly poor condition, with 90% of their fur being mats so thick they were attached to their skin. Their nails were approx 2cm long and yet despite that they've not got a mean bone in their entire body.
Since being at the facility Dixie has been the sweetest girl imaginable. She's so happy, affectionate, thrilled about.. well.. just life in general and considering we were grooming her for approx 2hrs removing unimaginable amounts of matted hair, she was the most patient & sweet girl throughout. She has quickly wormed her way into our hearts & we know she'll be an amazing companion.
Dixie tested very well with other dogs at the facility. She didn't care if they were big or small, she was overjoyed to meet them. I don't think she stopped bouncing the entire time. We believe Dixie will be suitable to live with other dogs, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them the ensure they get along before going home.
Dixie tested fairly well with our cranky facility cat. She was hissed at and immediately left the room. We believe she could be suitable to live with cats if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Dixie tested well with our resident rooster. She was very easy to distract and she walked away without being coaxed. We believe Dixie could be suitable to live with smaller animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Dixie has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression since being at the facility.
Dixie would thrive in a home where she is included as a part of the family.
Dixie's adoption fee is $950 and includes her desexing and lifetime registration.
Dixie has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with her vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
