About Louie
Hi, my name is Louie, and I’m looking for my forever home. I’m not quite one year old, I’m desexed and vaccinated, and I’m a Bichon x Poodle. I’m crate trained and have done lots of obedience training.
I’m just a little fella at around 5kg, but please don’t think I’m a lap dog. Because I’m not. I’m an energiser bunny, but in a good way. I want to run around and play. And empty the toy basket. And chase the ball.
Ball is life!
So, if you’re looking for someone to sit and cuddle with you, I’m not your guy. I love walks and am doing pretty well with my walking on a loose lead. Not perfect, so you’ll need to keep helping me with that. I also like water, so swimming may be an option.
I love people, especially kids, and I love dogs. I do get overexcited sometimes, though. I’m doing super well with not jumping up, but sometimes I forget. Some dogs find me a bit annoying cause I want to lick their faces. So I’ll need you to remind me not to do that. Because lots of dogs don’t like it, and I don’t get that.
I’ve got some good obedience skills, and I’ll need to keep practicing those for you. And I do well with grooming, including my nails being trimmed. BUT I am not rock solid on my toilet training yet. You’ll need to keep helping me and keep reminding me. I prefer to go outside, but I’m not dedicated to the cause, so please be patient and help me.
Now I know I sound perfect, but can I just say, I’m really scared of bikes. And skateboards. And wheelchairs. Stuff that moves quickly or appears suddenly. Stuff that I haven’t seen before, like my foster Mum got out the carpet spot cleaning machine, and I was scared of that when she had not even plugged it in. I freak out a bit and run off if I’m not on a lead, so I’ll need to be on a lead outside of the home. And you’ll need to let me see things that I haven’t seen before until I don’t care about them anymore.
So my ideal family will probably have a couple of kids to play with me, let’s say 10 or older, please, as I’m still jumping up sometimes, and maybe a young and playful small dog to play with me. No big dogs please. I’m not scared of them, but if we rough play, which I do sometimes, I’d probably get hurt.
Finally – and this is a big one – I have a history of stealing stuff around the house and guarding my stolen objects. My lovely first Mum was older and unable to stop me from doing this. Foster Mum has never seen the behaviour because she was firm from the get-go. You’ll need to be a firm but fair kind of household, or you won’t be considered.
Please, no apartments. I must have a yard to play in.
