About Cooper
Introducing Cooper!
Cooper is a Kelpie x German Shepherd born approx 17th June 2024.
Cooper was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray and sadly, no one came looking for him.
When Cooper first came to the facility he was shut down & very stressed. After a few days we felt he would be better suited to a home environment so our lovely foster carer Pete came to pick him up.
Since being in foster care Cooper has been an incredibly affectionate, calm & lovable boy. We're told he's 100% house trained & uses the doggy door like a pro. They've already gone on a Bunnings adventure and he loved every one he met (..I believe that feeling was reciprocated by all the Bunnings team).
Cooper has had mixed reactions when meeting other dogs. When he was at the facility we tested with a large female Staffy & neither of them wanted anything to do with the other.. until he tried following her back into her kennel instead of his. He's met a few dogs out in the community & he can get very excited to see them, sometimes barking/whining wanting to go over to them quicker. He has been non-reactive when other dogs have barked or snapped at him. We believe that Cooper could be suitable to live with another dog, or be the only spoilt "child" at home. If you have a friendly dog at home, we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Cooper hasn't been tested with cats & pocket pets at this time.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Cooper will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Cooper has shown no signs of food aggression since being at the facility or in foster care.
Cooper has shown very mild signs of separation anxiety, where he will "awoo" for a short amount of time, then he seems to settle himself.
Cooper's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Cooper is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
