About Tilly
Introducing Tilly!
Tilly is a Maltese x Shih Tzu born 19th April 2023.
Tilly was surrendered to the facility as her owner is moving & unable to take her with them. Her surrender profile states she is house trained, has no food aggression or separation anxiety, she travels well in the car, she's friendly with children, cats & dogs. She's friendly with adults but can be shy.
Since being at the facility Tilly has been an incredibly sweet girl, but she can be quite timid when she first meets you. When this happens she will sit quietly & shake. She also ducks her head if you go in for a pet too quickly. After sitting with her for a few minutes she comes up for gentle cheek scratches and tries to climb on your lap for cuddles. Once you've been deemed "safe" she's a very affectionate girl who's inquisitive and honestly just an all-round lovely girl.
Even though Tilly is a Maltese x Shih Tzu, she's a bit of a chunky girl weighing in at 8.3kg.
Tilly tested OK with other dogs at the facility. While there was no aggression or reactivity, she had absolutely no interest in meeting them or becoming friends. She actually tried walking a meter or so around them to try to say hi to the second handler instead. We believe Tilly could be suitable to live with another dog, however from what we've seen we believe she would be more comfortable being a spoilt "only child".
Tilly tested fairly well with our cranky facility cat. She was hissed at, which she seemed a bit offended by, so she left the room. We believe she could be suitable to live with cats if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Tilly tested fairly well with our resident rooster, showing the same reaction as she did with cats. She was very easy to distract and she walked away without being coaxed. We believe Tilly could be suitable to live with smaller animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
Tilly has shown no signs of separation anxiety or food aggression since being at the facility.
Tilly would thrive in a home where she is included as a part of the family.
Tilly's adoption fee is $950 and includes her desexing and lifetime registration.
Tilly has been treated for flea and worms and is up to date with her vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
