Hi, I’m Luna!

I came into rescue with my puppies when my breeder could no longer care for us. Thanks to Off The Chain, I’m now safe, healthy and loved; and ready to find a home of my very own.

While I arrived into care extremely underweight and with an untreated uterus infection, I am now the picture of health! I’m a gentle, soft-natured girl with a sensitive soul. I can take a moment to assess new situations, but once I feel secure my affectionate, playful personality really shines. I’m incredibly sweet and form strong bonds with both humans and dogs.

I currently live with two confident, medium-sized dogs who have been wonderful role models for me. They help build my confidence, teach me good manners, and are my favourite playmates. I am naturally social and playful. During the day we relax together in the yard while my carers are at work, and at night I sleep inside and settle beautifully, snoozing through the night with no mischief. Evenings are for coming inside, being part of the family, and soaking up cuddles.

I’m learning my basic commands and progressing well. I respond best to calm, kind training and gentle guidance, and I’m food-motivated which makes learning easy. I’m playful, curious and full of quiet fun. I grew up with children and chickens and did well with both, and while I may be a guardian breed by name, I don’t have a working bone in my body- I’m here to guard hearts, not property.

I bond quickly with my humans and love being included in everyday life. I’m a true ute dog and enjoy being harnessed in, feeling the wind in my face, and going along for the ride. I’m looking for a home where I’m part of the family with time indoors, regular routines, and opportunities to explore the world through walks, sniffing, rolling and play. While I didn't experience much city life as a young dog, I would settle to leashed walks in busy areas in time. Just don't dump me into a busy street and expect me to know what to do- I grew up in town with not a lot of people, and traffic still spooks me. I’d thrive with a confident canine companion. I love kids, including teens, and would make a lovely family dog with continued training. My breeder had children and chickens and I got along well with all. I haven’t met cats yet, but my temperament suggests I could be trained to live with them.

I’ll need secure fencing (with no gaps underneath, just in case I get a fright). Fireworks aren’t my favourite, but otherwise I’m easygoing. I travel well, have no car sickness, and I’m compliant at the vet.
