Buddy

Buddy is a 1 year old Pharaoh Hound, a rare and striking breed known for their athleticism, intelligence and unique personality. He is best suited to a home that understands sighthounds and appreciates their independent yet affectionate nature.

Buddy is exceptional with other dogs no matter the breed, age or size! He would thrive with another friendly dog.

He thrives in the outdoors and is the perfect companion for an active lifestyle, whether it’s walking, hiking, or camping. At home, Buddy settles calmly and enjoys spending time close to his people, often curling up on the couch.

Buddy is toilet trained, crate trained, has excellent recall, and travels well in the car. He is very food motivated, but like many sighthounds, he does not enjoy structured or repetitive training and is not suited for someone looking for a dog who can learn tricks or sports. As a Pharaoh Hound, Buddy is naturally more vocal than some breeds, and communicates with enthusiasm.

He lives with cats and farm animals and has shown no interest in them. He has been very tolerant of children but would be best in a calmer home without young kids or with older, dog-savvy children who understand respectful interactions.

He has come a long way with new experiences and outings. He can take time to adjust to new environments and does best in predictable, low-chaos homes. Once settled, he is confident, calm, and easy to live with. He prefers quieter settings and is not suited to apartment or inner-city living. A suburban or rural home with secure fencing and access to nature is ideal.
