About Proud
Poppy and her four Pups will be at Petbarn Ferntree Gully VIC Sunday February 8th between 10am-2pm. Very happy to meet all potential admirers and adopters.
Please come and meet them in person.
Meet Proud - one of Poppys Pups
This little lady was abandoned and pregnant and thankfully we were able to save her and her four healthy beautiful puppies. She has been a wonderful mother to the little crew and tended to their every need without hesitation. She is now finished feeding them and is ready to leave foster care and find homes for all her puppies and one for herself as well.
Poppy is a genuine little princess, she if affectionate, great company, she makes you laugh with her little routines and wants to be with you. She is house trained, walks well on a lead and is always up for an adventure.
Poppy displays no anxiety if left at home so is suitable for a home where her people are not always home.
Typical breed traits:
Papillons are small, highly intelligent, and affectionate toy spaniels, renowned for their large, butterfly-like fringed ears and lively, confident personality. Weighing just 3–5kg, they are trainable, adaptable to apartment living, and excel in agility. They are generally healthy, long-lived (13-17 years), but require regular grooming and mental stimulation to avoid boredom.
Key Breed Traits
Temperament: Friendly, alert, happy and confident. They are known to be "big dogs in small bodies".
Intelligence & Trainability: Ranked among the smartest breeds, making them highly receptive to training and tricks.
Appearance: Fine-boned with a long, single-layered, silky, white coat featuring patches of color (e.g., red, black, sable). Their ears are large, mobile, and fringed.
Exercise & Activity: While they love to play, their exercise needs are moderate, making them suitable for apartments, though they enjoy active, daily walks.
Health: Generally healthy with a lifespan of 13-17 years, but prone to patellar luxation, dental issues, and hypoglycemia.
Versatility: Excellent companion dogs that adapt well to city living and travel well.
Care Considerations
Grooming: Regular brushing is needed to prevent mats in their long, single-layered, silky coat.
Socialization: They are generally friendly with other pets, including larger dogs, but require careful handling around small children due to their delicate, small-boned structure.
