Koko

Meet Koko, a charming 8-year-old Border Collie, who we suspect may have a dash of Lab in her! As a wonderful family dog, Koko excels in companionship and loves being involved in family activities. Her tender and responsive nature makes her an excellent fit for households looking for a gentle, mature pup to adore and cherish.

Koko hasn't had the benefit of regular exercise until entering our care, but she delights in her daily walks, feeling at ease when wearing a harness that encourages her to remain respectful and centered during outings. Although she needs to shed a few kilos (or more!), her enthusiasm for exercise shines through in every tail wag and eager step. She's motivated by food, which makes her responsive to training commands- excellent to teach her new tricks and reinforce positive behaviors. Her love of food has been a big driver for her. To ensure that she only receives what she needs, food needs to be kept out of sight and reach (think clear benches and closed pantry doors). While she is food motivated, she also has good manners when waiting for her meal to be served.

She is not bothered by robovacs or by the neighbours dog barking!

Despite her extra layer of cold protection, Koko is in fine health and ready to embark on adventures with her new family- whether it's a leisurely stroll at the park or a scenic drive in the car. She’s happiest when showered with affection, and she will gladly offer her belly for rubs, place her head on your lap for a comforting ear scratch, or even gently rest a paw to remind you she’s there.

Koko has shared one foster home with another dog, but most of her life has been as an only pet. This is certainly her preference and she has blossomed in her new foster home as their one and only. Koko is happy with her own company when her humans need to leave home for an outing and settles independently at night, sleeping in the family room.
